BATIK = the art of fabric painting from Indonesia

Batik is the art which has high art value and already become the part of Indonesia culture, especially for Java island. Women in Java used to make their skill of batik as a income of their livelihood. So, at the past, doing batik was an exclusive job. The tradition of batik is a hereditary tradition, so we can assume one motive comes from certain family. The motive of batik can show the status of a person. Even though now days some of the traditional motives only be used by a noble family from Yogyakarta and Solo kingdom in Java island, Indonesia.



Batik is firstly founded by Mr. Soeharto, the second Indonesian President, and introduce it to all over the world. Mr. Soeharto used to wear batik when attending UN conference.
