TOBA: the largest lake in Indonesia.....

Toba lake is a volcanic lake which length abaout 100 kilometers and has 30 kilometers width. It lays on North Sumatra island in Indonesia. This is the largest lake in Indonesia and also in the south east Asia. In the middle of this lake, there is a volcanic island named Pulau Samosir. The Toba lake has become an object tourism in north Sumatra for a long time

The HistoryApproximately on 73.000-75.000 years ago, there was a big explosion from super active mountain. Bill Rose
and Craig Chesner from Michigan Technological University predicts that the volcanic materials which is gushed out from the mountain reached 2.800 km³ containing 800 km³ ignimbrit stone and 2.000 km³ volcanic ash. The volcanic ash was blown by the air and spread to half of earth, from China until the south Africa. The explosion occurred until 1 week and the volcanic material gush out to reach 10 km above sea level. This occurrence caused mass mortality and some species follows to dead. Based on some DNA evidence, this explosion had decreased human being about 60% from the population which reached 60 million people. The explosion also caused the ice age.

The shape of the explosion form a caldera which so possible filled by water and now many people call as the Toba lake. The up pressure from magma caused the rise of Samosir island in the center.      

The international scientist which is lead by Dr. Michael Petraglia revealed on the press conference in Oxford, United States, that he found the new archeology site in the south of India. On that site, it is revealed that how people survive to live before and after the explosion (supervolcano) Toba in 74.000 years ago. And the evidence shows that there was a life under ash heap of Toba mountain.   
As long as 7 years, the scientist from Oxford University conduct the research of ecosystem in India to find the evidence from the people who still alive. 

The spreading of ash volcanic is so width. It can be found almost in the entire of the world. The ash volcanic spreading come from the eruption of ancient supervolcano, The Toba Mountain. even, the surprising is that the spreading was recorded until artic pole. It described how strength to explosion of the volcano.
