BATIK = the art of fabric painting from Indonesia

Batik is the art which has high art value and already become the part of Indonesia culture, especially for Java island. Women in Java used to make their skill of batik as a income of their livelihood. So, at the past, doing batik was an exclusive job. The tradition of batik is a hereditary tradition, so we can assume one motive comes from certain family. The motive of batik can show the status of a person. Even though now days some of the traditional motives only be used by a noble family from Yogyakarta and Solo kingdom in Java island, Indonesia.

In general, the Indonesian livelihood is based on cultivation of  food crops, plantation, forestry, horticulture, stock-breeding and fishery.  The Indonesian history since colonial era until now can not be separated from agriculture because of this sector plays the most important role in deciding the formulation of the economical and society in varies Indonesian culture.
